If you're about to buy an ASP.NET or Windows Forms product there are three types of licenses to choose from. These are the DEVELOPER, SITE and ENTERPRISE licenses. So what is the difference between them and how to choose the right one?
All licenses are royalty free that is each of them permits you to redistribute the portion of the Software marked as "Redistributable Files" to the target production servers along with your developed application. The main difference is how many developers are allowed to work with the Software.
Under the terms of the DEVELEPER License only one developer is permitted to work with the Software. If you want more of your employees to be able to use it, you'll have to obtain additional DEVELOPER Licenses for each of them. Another option may be purchasing another type of license both SITE and ENTERPRISE Licenses allow an unlimited number of developers to work with the Software. The difference between them is that under conditions of the SITE License all your developers must be physically located in the same place (building), while the ENTERPRISE License permits your developers to work at any part of the globe. This is why the licenses vary in price.
If you want to, you can change your license at any time. In that case you will only have to pay the price difference. For example, if you obtained a DEVELOPER License, but decided you need more that one person to work with the Software, you can switch to the SITE or ENTERPRISE License and pay only the difference in their costs.
Thus our customers can always be sure they won't be charged any extra money even if they have been mistaken in their choice of license.
